National Waterways Museum, Cheshire, UK

Hardwearing wood effect Expona Flow commercial flooring from Polyflor was chosen to give a new lease of life to the National Waterways Museum in Ellesmere Port, Cheshire.

Lancashire based interior designers BWD Ltd were contracted to manage the design and build of the museum refurbishment project. They selected Polyflor’s Expona Flow PUR sheet vinyl flooring in Sun Bleached Oak for the museum’s reception area, shop and Waterside Café. Featuring wood grain detail for added authenticity and subtle cool tones, this floorcovering complements the interior design scheme perfectly, improving the experience of visitors as soon as they enter the museum.

Run by the Canal and River Trust, the museum is located on the canal docks where the northern end of the Shropshire Union Canal meets the Manchester Ship Canal. The museum offers visitors an insight into UK canals, rivers and waterways and their rich heritage. The refurbishment project was completed in March 2017.

Bev Wood, Creative Director at BWD Ltd commented,

“Polyflor really understood our need to specify a flooring solution which would deliver on impact, would work with other materials and finishes we had selected, and would be practical for the demands of a busy museum environment. Polyflor’s team worked with BWD’s team to select the best product range and they provided us with large samples to take to our clients for sign-off. The client is extremely happy with the flooring and customers have commented on how it has transformed the space.”
