Burger Restaurant Design

About client

Customs House, based in Barrow-in-Furness, is owned by husband and wife team Rob and Zoe Rollings. It now has two restaurants, a function space to hire and a play zone.

Project

Function Room Refurbishment

We were briefed to repurpose and refurbish a redundant function room within Custom House with the aim to create a family-friendly food offer.

bwd worked with Rob and Zoe to look at the menu and how it would be presented, as well as advising on the restaurant interior. The brand name was suggested by bwd. We developed the brand mark and restaurant interior. A small room at the entrance to the restaurant was going to be used as a ‘welcome area’ however, bwd suggested creating an ice-cream parlour that would not only service both restaurants, but be open to customers using an upper floor play zone enabling them to have an ice-cream at anytime.

What we delivered

The Burger Parlour offers a range of homemade ‘proper burgers’ as well as real ice cream sundaes. We didn’t want to make Rob and Zoe’s place an American diner, or a grill. We worked with some of the existing architecture of the room to create a bright, family-friendly space. The Burger Parlour simply do good burgers and ice cream, their way. Customers walk through the ice-cream parlour on their way to the main restaurant which has encouraged sales of their amazing ice-cream.
