Lancashire based Interior designers bringing space to life

Dalvis Street Food and Bar

Client

Davli’s Street Food and Bar is a unique dining experience in the heart of Lytham.  Once a dated looking café, Dalvi’s brings street food from India and other places around the world, to Lancashire. Dalvi’s chef, Seema Dalvi and her team change the menu every few weeks to enable customers to enjoy their unique international cuisine which is always delivered with Dalvi’s twist on it.  This is the second restaurant in the Dalvi’s portfolio with their fine dining offer based in Poulton.

The Project

Seema and her husband wanted to recreate the look and feel of a real Indian street food experience in their new eatery in Lytham. BWD have created a unique and quirky interior which includes a feature bar, a hand-painted mural (depicting international landmarks from around the world), bespoke light fittings, quirky furnishings and fittings and bright splashes of colour throughout.

Outcomes

We have revised the entrance area to form a gentle ramp in place of the stepped entrance, making the space much more accessible. We have retained the vinyl flooring to avoid unnecessary site disruption laying new.  We have upcycled tables and chairs, left behind by the previous tenant.  The chairs are re-upholstered and painted in bright colours and table bases have new timber tops added.  The entrance to the kitchen operation has been reconfigured to provide for better operational links between the food preparation and service needs. The interior layout now has zones of different styles of seating.  There is a large banquette seating area to accommodate large groups of diners and a bench table and stools in the narrow window area, made from a recycled bicycle, to create a feature area at the entrance. The overall interior design has been created to compliment the colourful and diverse nature of the menu. Seema and her family love their new space and we hope you will too.
