Business for Evolution was growing, refurbishing housing and local authority properties to create better communities. As the business grew, their requirement for space did too, so when the opportunity to expand into the adjoining office arrived, they took it.
The two offices were almost mirror images of each other, but that brought a lot of duplication of space use, which needed to be redesigned to work more efficiently for the team. Evolution’s directors knew what areas, offices and facilities their team required and asked BWD to redesign the space. BWD reworked the space to create two offices for the directors, work areas for small teams, a meeting room, breakout/hot desk zone and shared facilities, including a kitchen with eating area.
Evolution needed to be able to continue to work in their existing office while the project of merging the offices continued. BWD developed a scheduled plan for the building work and redesign, minimising the impact on the team’s daily activities. Storage, light and zoning of specific areas were key considerations for this project. By adding cabinets, glazing panels and brand coloured flooring, BWD created a space that enabled the team to work effectively and a welcoming space for visitors and clients.
Overall, the balance between heritage conservation and modern design has delivered a building that honours its past while being future-ready.
