Project

Orthoplastics
The management team at Orthoplastics briefed bwd to initially produce a feasibility report to look at the likely costs for moving their existing manufacturing out of leased units into two owned buildings. The owned buildings consisted of an 18th Century old Mill building and a partially dilapidated Northern Lights storage facility. Orthoplastics needed to expand their Bacup facility to provide purpose built laboratories, test facilities and office space to maintain their position in the marketplace.

What we delivered

Following the successful delivery of the feasibility report, bwd were invited to provide the creative and project management input to refurbish the existing Mill building, demolishing and rebuilding the Northern Lights factory building, as well as creating a new link between the two refurbished buildings. bwd approach Blue Sky Architects, from Manchester, to support our team to deliver the project which was successfully handed over after a year-long programme of design and build.  This is bwd’s second architectural project but first foray into providing a manufacturing facility and we look forward to undertaking other projects of this scale in the future.
