In commercial environments, screens are everywhere — from digital signage and wayfinding displays to interactive information points and meeting room technology. Yet one of the most overlooked aspects of screen placement is the sight line: how comfortably and clearly a person can view the content, regardless of their height, posture, or mobility.
At BWD Limited, we believe good design is inclusive design, with people being the focus. When planning and installing screens, we consider everybody — from wheelchair users and seated visitors to adults and children. The goal is simple, to ensure that everyone can engage with visual information without strain or exclusion.
Our recent visual study highlights how eye-level and viewing angles can vary across different users. It’s obvious that a wheelchair user’s average eye height differs significantly from that of a standing adult, so the screen placement needs to take that into account. Children experience signage and screens from a lower perspective, meaning that they often miss key information when displays are mounted too high. Even small adjustments in height or tilt can dramatically improve accessibility and comfort for all viewers.
These considerations are not about compliance; they are about creating environments that communicate effectively and are easy to view. The screen needs to be carefully aligned, not the viewer. Whether it is a retail space, visitor attraction, or corporate setting, the right sight line ensures clarity, connection, and confidence for every user.
At BWD, we integrate these principles into every project. From concept to completion, our designs prioritise visibility, accessibility, and user experience because thoughtful design should always be seen and understood by all.
