Lancashire based Interior designers bringing space to life

Servicing the Public Sector

Servicing the Public Sector

Having worked on various projects with Councils and Public Sector bodies we understand how to deliver a successful project, on time and on budget, whilst working and communicating effectively as a team. We bring with us years of experience in the design industry, enabling us to budget effectively, avoid potential issues, ensure accessibility for all, suggest improvements and spot possible upcycling and reusing of materials.

Budget

Constraints of the public purse can impact design choices, but with careful planning and decisions on where money can be saved, there’s no need for budget restrictions to stop spaces from being practical, hard wearing and look great. With a large selection of suppliers, who we have worked with before, we can ensure good value for money and longevity of the design.

Communication

A successful project is only achievable with effective communication across all parties, so in addition to site visits and meetings, we also produce detailed design sheets for every space.

These show –

  • Dimensions
  • Sockets
  • Furnishings
  • Fnishes

By creating these, everyone can quickly and easily see the vision and the part that they play in it. In addition, as a small company, we ensure continuity of contact with someone who knows about the project, when you need them.

Experience

Over the years working on a very diverse range of projects, we can use our experience to bring new ideas across sectors, having an insight as to what has worked well and potential room for improvements. We also know when a space would benefit from a bespoke item to be created and who could create it. An example of this is the lectern that we commissioned for Burnley Crematorium, which is height adjustable at the touch of the button, ensuring that it’s accessible for all.

Environmental Impact – Upcycle and Reuse

Not everything needs to be new as part of great design, as some of the key decisions can actually be what should be kept and what can be reused. The waiting area of Burnley Crematorium had a beautiful, original wooden floor, which was brought back to its original state after being re-finished. We also used the heritage stained-glass windows in the Chapel as the inspiration for our colour palette and cushions for the benches. It doesn’t even need to be within the same project, as during our work on The Robinson building in Blackpool, we re-used some Canadian Maple sound proofing panels from the Blackpool Law Courts, which were due to be disposed of. We used these panels to reduce any potential noise from meeting rooms travelling into other spaces, providing a practical and beautiful upcycling of these materials.

Visuals and Walk-Throughs

Sometimes it can be difficult to visualise how a space could look and how people would travel through it. This is why we create visuals of the updated space as part of the review process and we can even develop virtual walk-throughs to assess the flow, helping to bring the design to life.
